Internship Tanzania
Beautiful Tanzania boasts the
highest mountain on the continent of Africa, the exotic
spice islands of historical Zanzibar , and the famous
Serengeti National Park . In this country, the Great
Rift Valley gives rise to unique geological formations,
with its endless plains serving as the stage of one of
the greatest spectacles of animal behavior - the Great
Migration. Tanzania's internship programs are highly
organized and respected, offering benefits beyond just
professional development. An internship in Tanzania
presents a wonderful opportunity to be immerged within
an amazing culture while simultaneously working in your
area of interest. The internship experience in Tanzania
supplies a number of hands-on experiences while also
offering glimpses into the issues affecting developing
countries. This international internship is a unique
opportunity to truly witness a country's culture,
natural beauty and people - all which cannot often be
experienced through simple travel.
Why Sichildren's
Internship Tanzania Program?
The
success of our volunteer and humanitarian trips Tanzania
inspired us to begin offering a number of internship
Tanzania programs. Selecting a number of grassroots
organizations providing assistance in the areas of
adolescent aide, community development and HIV/AIDS,
Sichildren
offers an unsurpassed variety of unique, internships
abroad in different regions throughout Tanzania -
covering a multitude of educational disciplines and
interests. Through these international internships,
Sichildren
offers a number of opportunities for intellectual
development in combination with practical experience and
hand-on application. In these international internships,
interns are allowed to work alongside grassroots
organizations: taking part in a rare, once-in-a-lifetime
chance of learning AND cultural immersion.
An internship in Tanzania offers benefits
beyond mere professional development, but personal
development as well.
Sichildren's
internships in Tanzania all offer an unconventional and
independent opportunity for interns to be completely
immersed in both a culture and its respective
environment (both work and natural). The experience
encountered by interning abroad in Tanzania, lends a
real-world understanding of developing countries rich in
culture which is not achievable through just travel or
study alone. These are just some of the reasons for
choosing Sichildren's
Tanzania internships:
Through Sichildren's
Tanzania programs, volunteers and interns are introduced
into a realm of learning, serving and immersion within
Tanzania local cultures - a truly unique experience
guaranteed to last a lifetime. With a nearly 99% success
rate, we invite you to join the hundreds of already
satisfied participants. If you would like to speak with
our past participants, please let us know. One of the most distinguished features of
Sichildren's
internships is the guidance of our respectable
supervisors. Whichever project you choose, Sichildren
will assign a qualified supervisor to provide assistance
for all interns throughout the duration of their chosen
internship abroad. Individuals filling the role of
supervisor are usually either the director or chosen
staff member of the intern's chosen project. During your
time as an international intern, you will be assigned a
number of duties which volunteers also perform (in this
sense, there are very few differences between Sichildren's
volunteers and interns).
Wherein exists the difference
between interning and volunteering is that the
internship allows individuals the opportunity to become
more deeply involved in their chosen project (i.e.
individuals interning in the women's issues projects can
further explore issues such as the trafficking of women,
domestic violence, etc). Please note: the project
supervisor DOES NOT develop internships, as this is up
to the intern to achieve as much or as little from their
chosen project. ALL participants are encouraged to be
proactive to ensure the ultimate success of their
internship. Supervisors will provide at least five (5)
hours each week to make certain that interns are
adequately guided. |

about receiving college credit for your internship work.
Your college/university may need additional information
about the program prior to approval, as well as require
you to submit a research paper or other requirements.

Internship in Tanzania:
Arrangement of room/food |
|
Sichildren
arranges meals, living accommodations and
supervision from the beginning to end of the internship.
During the first week (if enrolled in the language and
culture program), interns stay in our Sichildren's
house in Arusha which also doubles as our local
offices/base of operations. Located in Arusha, interns
are provided access to various parts of the city.
During the internship period, interns
stay with a host family. However, an intern joining the
orphanage project will stay at the orphanage's compound.
We arrange a separate room for interns with shared
bathroom facilities in host families as well as in the
residential orphanage settings. Details pertaining to
living accommodations will be provided in placement
details prior to arrival in-country. Sichildren's
main office is located in Arusha - allowing interns
access to the local coordinator. |

program free time
|
|
Interns have free time during the evening
and weekends. While Sichildren
does not cover any activities
outside of those involved with the service projects,
there are still a number of interesting sites to
discover throughout Tanzania . Free time is an
opportunity for self-discovery and learning. However,
Sichildren
local coordinators can provide useful assistance and
information regarding booking various travel
arrangements within this wonderfully enigmatic country.
In your free time, you can explore the major tourist
areas/cities of Arusha, Dar,
Moshi, and Zanzibar . Interns can simply hike throughout
the villages or enjoy the surroundings while riding a
bicycle. Please make sure to let your program
director/supervisor know about your travel plans to
ensure your own safety and thorough enjoyment. |

Medical Internships
|
|
If you are looking for valuable hands-on
medical experience, these internships are great
opportunities. The local hospitals which are located in
the outer city areas and villages urgently need interns.
You will spend the majority of your time learning as an
assistant to the main doctor. Work responsibilities vary
with your education, skill and experience. Interns
interested in joining the medical/health internship
program must possess health care certification, such as
an ID as a medical student, EMT or paramedic
certification,
or nursing or physician's credentials.
Medical interns without credentials are not allowed to
work in this program because of the potential risk. The
hospitals require a copy of your resume, clearly stating
credentials and education, before your arrival to the
project. |
|
Teaching Internships
|
|
If you enjoy teaching and work great with
children, this is the perfect internship for you. This
is a very good opportunity for interns with an
educational background to learn the basic
fundamentals
of teaching a class and gain some experience in their
desired profession. Though no teaching experience or
skill is needed, interns joining the teaching program
should have good English, both written and verbal.
Interns are expected to be flexible and patient. You
should have passion and love for teaching, English and
conversation. |

NGO Internships:
|
|
This internship is a great opportunity
for anyone pursuing an environmental career to learn
more about their field. All of the offices can use
support for all of the local conservation efforts, so
assisting would be a great way to learn and an excellent
way to gain experience. Internship tasks include,
maintaining trails in the municipal forest, promoting
new projects, or assisting in the office. A
conservation or environmental focus is the key to being
successful in this project. Interns are expected to be
reliable, flexible, and patient. However, interns
interested in joining the conservation project should be
ready for physically demanding work |
